Last week I took a trip into the world of Second Life by Linden Labs. Second Life is a cyber virtual world and when I was told about it I was excited to see what it was all about. I pictured a place where there would be conversation groups, classes and other groups where I would find new friends and have some fun. I thought I might find other Christian's there. I found a few groups who had Lands here but not many.
What a disappointment. What I found was a big shopping mall and a porn playground. My first reaction was to get out of there fast but then I decided to see how bad this place is and to let parents know about what really goes on in there. So I spent a little less than a week exploring and going undercover in the Second Life world.
I found people who would have sex with me, some seemed a bit inept like I was in this world and others seemed to be masters of cyber sex. Some of the more savvy ones cuffed my avatar and were able to manipulate her into various sexual poses while they had cyber sex with her. (I know this is graphic but I want everyone to understand just how bad this place was.) I have to say the first time I went under cover in this world I left sick to my stomach and sad. The next time I left scratching my head about why anyone would want to do this type of thing on a regular basis. There were dungeon rooms, bondage playgrounds as well as normal gay and straight sex lands. In one Land on Tuesday their members are allowed to sexually force and manipulate any visitor who wanders in that day.
I had no problem getting sexy outfits and bondage wear free as there are many places where this stuff is available as well as other things like body parts that were available for linden dollars. Linden dollars are the currency of Second Life. These dollars can be earned by camping a practice where you either dance on a circle for a set time or sit in a chair and gamble to make more money. You can also buy linden dollars with real money or earn them by working. Jobs include prostitute, walking billboard, sweeping floors and other jobs.
Has our world become so narrow and peverse that people want to spend their hours in a place like this. What could have been used for good has not. I found Second Life to be a place where most people are having sex in fantasy roles. I did not get to see some of the even worse places as you had to be a resident of SL for more than seven days to enter them. What I saw was bad enough I shudder at what was more deviant in there.
You are suppose to be 18 to enter this world of Second Life but all I needed to do was put my Birthday in and as long as it reads over 18 you are in. I did not need to give any other proof. Parents you might want to take a look and see whether your kids have Second Life downloaded on their computer if they do, I suggest you have a talk with them and get them to remove it. I admit I don't get cyber sex at all it seems like a sad waste of time. Go outside meet a real person have a real relationship go on a date. This cyber world only leaves a person more lonely than they were before they entered.Don't waste your time. I wanted to share my findings to protect others who might be as naive as I was about this place.
